Coaching carousel: Sturgeon Bay's Goblisch in, L-C's Bredael-Schmidt out

The next basketball season is still months away, but at least two local schools have made decisions for their programs moving forward.

Former Sturgeon Bay assistant coach Zach Goblisch has accepted the job as the head basketball coach for the Clippers. Goblisch will replace Head Coach Rodney Owens, who coached Sturgeon Bay for the 2022-2023 season which saw the team finish with a 7-17 record and a first-round exit to the eventual regional champs, Campbellsport.

Taylor Bredael-Schmidt announced on social media earlier this week that her contract had not been renewed. In her statement, she expressed sadness that she would not be able to reach her goal of rebuilding the program's championship culture. Bredael-Schmidt was 38-58 during her four-year tenure with the Spartans, rebounding from a 4-19 mark in her first year to three straight years of at least 11 wins.
