Rockers weathers delays, Kingfish

It took seven hours to finish only eight innings, but the Green Bay Rockers were able to eventually beat the Kenosha Kingfish 8-2.

The Rockers' Grayson Walker only faced two batters before both teams decided to wait out the rest of the downpour that was present at the onset of the game. Northwoods League officials ended up pushing the game back to 4:05 p.m., chasing several fans away from Capital Credit Union Park.

The Kingfish scored one run in each of the first two innings, but the Rockers scored two runs in both frames to stake themselves to a 4-2 lead. The Rockers would tack on an extra run in the fourth inning before finishing off the Kingfish with three runs in what proved to be the final at-bats for them. Rain, which delayed the game, canceled the rest of the game after a third wave of storms came through the Green Bay area.

Kyle West led the way for the Rockers when he homered in the seventh inning, driving in three runs. Mateo Matthews drove in two runs while Kendal Ewel, Austin Fawley, and JoJo Jackson added their own RBI.

The Rockers will hope for brighter skies on Monday when they host the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders.
