Players say good-bye to high school football as All-Stars

Several local alums got to wear their old high school helmets one last time over the weekend during the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association All-Star games at UW-Oshkosh.

8-MAN: NORTH 74, SOUTH 12

The game with the most local participants was the Eight-Man All-Star game featuring a slew of players from Gibraltar plus coaches Mike Peck and Tom Sawyer. The North dominated the South, outgaining them 343-143, including 259- negative 103 yards on the ground. Giuseppe Mercier led the South squad with 33 yards on 13 carries. Jack Duffy had two assisted tackles, Hayden Reetz had one assisted tackle, and Emmett Moroney had one tackle. Duffy was the starting center while Mercier, Reetz and Moroney started on defense.

SMALL SCHOOL 11-MAN: NORTH 44, SOUTH 12

Kewaunee's Mitchell Thompson and Southern Door's Taylor Schaefer suited up for the victorious squad. Thompson was on the field for one of the North's touchdowns when he handed the ball off to David Gauderman for a score. While his passing totals went for less than 10 yards, Thompson did rush for 55 yards on nine carries. Taylor Schaefer had three tackles and three assisted tackles in the contest.
