The Milwaukee Brewers wasted a strong pitching performance by Wade Miley Tuesday evening as they lost to the Colorado Rockies 7-3 in ten innings.
Miley pitched six innings and allowed only two hits and one earned run, but the Milwaukee bullpen could not hold the 2-1 lead going into the seventh inning. Reliever Elvis Peguero gave up back-to-back home runs to Elias Diaz and Nolan Jones, as the Rockies took a two run lead in the top of the inning.
The Brewers tied it up at three with an RBI double by Mark Canhu in the bottom of the seventh and the game would eventually go into extra innings.
In the tenth inning, new Brewer reliever Andrew Chafin took the loss failing to record an out, giving up four runs on two walks and a hit.
Andruw Monasterio led the Milwaukee attack with three hits including his second home run of the season, while William Contreras hit his 12th home run of the season.
Milwaukee and Colorado will face off in the rubber game of the series at American Family Field Wednesday with first pitch set for 1:10 p.m.
