Rockers drop close one to Madison

The Green Bay Rockers fell to the Madison Mallards 8-7 at home on Tuesday night.

Rockers’ starting pitcher Ty Thurman (Colorado State-Pueblo)  allowed only two earned runs in four innings in his first start with Green Bay.

The Rockers struck first in the opening inning on center fielder Jojo Jackson’s (Georgia State) RBI groundout..

Mateo Matthews (Wagner) hit his eighth home run of the season later in the game to give the Rockers the lead back after Madison tied it. 

The Rockers would extend the lead in the fourth inning as Jackson crushed his third home run of the season giving Green Bay a 6-2 lead.

The Mallards Liam Moreno (State College of Florida) would then hit a grand slam to highlight a five-run sixth inning to reclaim the lead for Madison. 

The Rockers are 17-15 in the second half and 38-30 overall for the season in the Great Lakes West standings.

Green Bay will first travel to Wausau Wednesday before hosting the Dock Spiders on Thursday. The first pitch for Wednesday night’s game is set for 6:35 p.m.
