Kolberg stays hot, rolls West Jacksonport on 105.1 The GOAT

Heading into the playoffs, there may not be a team more on fire than the Kolberg Braves, as they defeated the West Jacksonport Ports 7-2 on 105.1 The GOAT.

There was no scoring in the first inning, and the second inning was started off strong by Christian Counard lacing a single into left field, and coming around to score on a Sam Koss RBI Double. Kolberg would continue to tack on more runs as Jack Peterson lifted a double into the gap, and Trevor Reinhardt smacked a two-run home run to give Kolberg a 3-0 lead.

West Jacksonport would not register a hit in the game until Drew Tanck hit a single to start the bottom of the fourth inning. Their first runner to reach second base was not until the sixth inning, when Woody Schartner hit a double, which would start the scoring for the Ports. Three straight walks from Jake Schneider gave West Jacksonport their only two runs.

Schneider finished off his day after six innings, giving up two hits and two runs with 10 strikeouts and was named the winning pitcher. Marcus Reinhardt gave the Braves 3 clean innings of relief as well.

Christian Counard and Jack Peterson had the best days for Kolberg, as Peterson finished 3 for 5, and Counard finished 2 for 4. Nick LeCaptain would be responsible for scoring two runs, along with one from Peterson and Koss in the final innings to give Kolberg their 7-2 win.

Kolberg received the second seed in the postseason and will host the Washington Island Islanders in the semifinals. Sister Bay became the regular season champions and will host Egg Harbor in the other semifinal matchup. The NEW Radio Sports Network will confirm their broadcast schedule this week.
