Brewers slam Pirates

The Milwaukee Brewers snapped a mini two-game losing streak with a  convincing 7-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday evening. 

The Brewers used a sixth-run fifth inning to take a commanding 7-0 lead over the Pirates to take game two in the series. 

Sal Frelick led the Brewer attack with two hits as the Brewers maximized their seven hits to produce the seven runs.

 

Brandon Woodruff pitched seven strong innings giving up only two hits and striking out six. 

The Brewers carried a shutout into the ninth inning before reliever Clayton Andrews gave up a three-run home run to Pirate Connor Joe.  Elvis Peguero came in to close it out after giving up two hits,

Milwaukee maintains a 2.5-game lead over the Chicago Cubs, as the Cubs came back to beat San Francisco 11-8 at home.

Freddy Peralta (8-4) will take the mound for the Brewers Wednesday as they try to take the series starting at 11:35 pm. from PNC Park.
