Phoenix women add former star to coaching staff

The Green Bay Phoenix basketball teams opened practices this week and it is the women that added a familiar face to its coaching staff this week.

The Phoenix announced earlier this week the hiring of Meghan Pingel as an assistant coach. Pingel spent five years with the Phoenix as a player, including as a member of the program's last appearance in the NCAA Tournament when the 2017-18 team won the Horizon League regular season and Tournament Championship. Head Coach Kevin Borseth said in a statement that "Meghan's familiarity with our program should make for a smooth transition into her new role."

Pingel isn't the first alum to be added to a Phoenix basketball coaching staff this offseason. Rahmon Fletcher was hired by head coach Sundance Wicks to be the  Director of Player Development earlier this year.

The Phoenix women play their first exhibition against UW Stout on October 25th while the men battle St. Norbert's on October 30th.
