Several local teams advance in WIAA Volleyball Tournament

The majority of the area's high school volleyball teams captured important wins on Tuesday to keep their hopes of a date at the Resch Center alive.

 

Sturgeon Bay was pushed by never folded in a 3-0 (26-24, 25-20, 25-23) victory over Wrightstown. They will face second-seeded Fox Valley Lutheran on Thursday.

 

Luxemburg-Casco was never threatened in their 3-0 (25-11, 25-17, 25-12) victory over Little Chute. 

 

Algoma overcame a rough second set to dispatch Sheboygan Lutheran 3-1 (25-17, 10-25, 25-16, 25-21) to earn a second-round set against Cedar Grove-Belgium on the road.

 

Gibraltar earned a date against Packerland foe NEW Lutheran on Thursday after they swept Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah 3-0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-21).

 

Sevastopol snapped their losing streak convincingly with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-19, 25-9) of Gillett ahead of their semifinal bout against Hilbert.

 

Southern Door fought until the bitter end but was upset by 11-seeded Reedsville 3-2 (17-25, 27-25, 25-22, 17-25, 7-15).

 

Kewaunee saw their season end on the road as Valders swept them 3-0 (22-25, 22-25, 21-25).
