Clippers soccer travels to Xavier for sectional showdown on U-102.1

The road to Milwaukee continues Thursday afternoon for the Sturgeon Bay Clippers soccer team when they battle Xavier.

The Clippers cruised through the regional round last week with a 7-2 victory against Kewaunee and a 5-0 clean sheet against Gibraltar/Sevastopol. Aldo Rangel led the Clippers with five goals across the two games, including a hat trick in the regional final against the United. The Clippers recently placed eight players on the All-Packerland Conference teams, including Player of the Year and unanimous First-Team selection Ben Stephens.

The Hawks enter the matchup as the sectional's second seed. They finished the season 20-3-0, including a 9-0 win against Omro and a 1-0 nailbiter over Wrightstown in their two regional games. All three Hawks' losses came against regional champions in this year's WIAA Soccer Tournament (St. Mary Catholic, West De Pere, and Notre Dame).

Bryan Mazur and Peter Kerwin will have the call on U-102.1 and NEWRadioSportsNetwork.com from Appleton beginning at 4:15 p.m. with the pregame show followed by the kickoff at 4:30 p.m. The winner of the game will go on to face the winner of #1 St. Mary Catholic and #4 Kiel.
