Gibraltar's Mittermann honored for heroic act

Gibraltar cross country runner Logan Mittermann earned All-Conference honors earlier this month, but another recognition he earned may be even more impressive.

 

The Gibraltar Viking Cross Country Facebook page highlighted Mittermann's heroic tale through the lens of "Door County regular" and North Chicago Assistant Police Chief Gary Lunn. In his retelling, Lunn says Mittermann came charging out of the Ephraim Firehouse Marina office Labor Day weekend and leaped into the Eagle Harbor waters when he heard a dog and its owner struggling to get out. Mittermann was able to get both the owner and his dog back to shore safely. On October 10th, Mittermann was honored by Ephraim Village President Michael McCutcheon and Village Administrator Brent Bristol for the act.
