Gamblers head south for Steel tilts

The Green Bay Gamblers will face a much different Chicago Steel team than they have grown accustomed to over the last few years when they play against each other in Geneva, Ill., on Friday and Saturday.

The Gamblers picked up a big three-game sweep last weekend over Muskegon, two of which were nailbiters before cruising to a much less stressful win on Sunday. That allowed the Gamblers to climb up to a three-way tie for third place, four points behind first-place Dubuque.

At the bottom of the conference is the Steel, which has opened the season with a record of 1-8-1. The Steel has dominated the USHL since the beginning of the decade with a pair of Anderson and Clark Cups to their credit. They did so with an efficient offense, which has not happened this year. The Steel are being outscored 52-29 on the season.

The two games will occur at the Fox Valley Ice Arena at 7:05 p.m.
