FROM HEAD COACH KELLY ORAM-RANKIN

The Door County United Girls Swim Team will be sending nine swimmers on to the state tournament on Friday, November 10th, following their performance at the sectionals meet at Plymouth High School on Saturday, November 4th. The team finished 3rd in the meet, only 7 points behind the runner-up team.  Julia Michalski is the sectional champion in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100-yard backstroke. Julia finished first overall in both events at sectionals, automatically sending her to the state tournament. Cassie Rankin and Kailyn Neville punched their ticket to state in the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle events. The 200-yard medley relay, consisting of Julia Michalski (SBHS), Danica Neville (SDHS), Isabella Jimenez Seyfer (SBHS), and Caitlyn Hasenjager (SEV), was the first to qualify for state during the meet. The relay finished 2nd overall with a time of 1:53.90. The 200-yard freestyle relay will also swim again at state with another 2nd place finish at sectionals and a time of 1:44.13. The members of that relay are Cassie Rankin (SEV), Danica Neville (SDHS), Natalia Michalski (SBHS), and Caitlyn Hasenjager (SEV). The final relay to qualify for state was the 400-yard freestyle relay, with members being Cassie Rankin (SEV), Kailyn Neville (SDHS), Natalia Michalski (SBHS), and Julia Michalski (SBHS). The relay finished 2nd as well, and the time was 3:46.26.  The state qualifiers were supported by the rest of the sectionals team, who assisted in scoring points toward the third-place finish. Those swimmers were Chloe Bissen (SBHS) and Shaeffer Rass (SEV). The season doesn’t end here for this sectionals team, and we wish them luck on their state competition on Friday at Waukesha South High School Natatorium!
