Gamblers, Capitols meet for Thanksgiving tradition

The Green Bay Gamblers and the Madison Capitols will meet for the third time in a week on Wednesday when they square off in a Resch Center Thanksgiving tradition.

On Friday, Lev Katzin scored twice, including the tally that put the game away as the Green Bay Gamblers won the first of three straight against the Madison Capitols 5-3. After giving up the game's first goal, the Gamblers scored twice on tallies by Libor Nemec and Julian Lutz to make it 2-1 after one period of play. The two teams would trade goals the rest of the way, with Katzin matching a Capitols goal in the second period to keep it a one-goal game before Michael DeAngelo and Katzin delivered the knockout blows in the third period. Goaltender Adam Gajan stopped 39 of 42 shots in the Gamblers victory.

The next night in Green Bay, The Green Bay Gamblers found themselves on the wrong side of a high-scoring affair on Saturday night at the Resch Center, falling to the Madison Capitols 6-4. The game was tied at three apiece heading into the third period thanks to Gamblers' goals from Julian Lutz, Josh Player, and Geno Carcone. Mykhailo Danylov would tie the game at 4-4 with just over 10 minutes left in the third period before Austin Burnevik finished off his hat trick with two goals in the final four minutes to give the Capitols a weekend split.

The rubber match will take place on Wednesday at the Resch Center at 7:05 p.m.
