Wolves girls open week vs. New Holstein

An off week for the rest of the area's team, the Algoma girls' basketball team will take to its home court on Monday to play New Holstein.

After playing their worst game offensively last week against Sevastopol, the Wolves used the Southern Door Eagles as a launching point in a 56-41 victory. Ryley Zimmerman set the tone early for the Wolves, scoring 16 of her game-high 20 points in the first half to help give her team a 46-20 advantage at halftime. The Eagles adjusted in the second half, allowing just 10 points after the break. Brooke Mattson scored 12 points, and Sierra Slaby chipped in 10 points in the victory for the Wolves.

The Huskies have rebounded from an 0-5 start to win three of their last four games, including a 51-44 victory against Roncalli in its previous game. Payton Grenzer is averaging nearly a double-double a game with 12 points and 9.3 rebounds per game.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
