Clippers boys battle host Shawano in Sun Drop Shootout

The Sturgeon Bay Clippers boys' basketball team returns from holiday break a week early to play in the Shawano Sun Drop Shootout in Green Bay on Tuesday to play the host Shawano Hawks.

The Clippers were up by three at the break, but they were doubled up in the second half as they lost to St. Mary Catholic last Thursday 85-65. Four Clippers players reached double figures in the game, led by Danny Lodl's 15 points. Garrett Ulberg (14 points), Jackson Starr (12 points), and Calvin Richard (12 points) all contributed offensively but were outshined by the Zephyrs' Fisher MacKenzie (29 points) and Braeden Bren (24 points).

The Hawks have lost seven of their last eight games, with a win against Green Bay West on December 12th their lone bright spot. In their last game, Logan Sipple scored 15 points as three Hawks players reached double figures in a 67-53 loss to New London last Thursday.

The tip-off is tentatively scheduled for 12:05 p.m. at the Kress Events Center on the campus of UW-Green Bay. It is part of a full slate of games associated with the Shawano Sun Drop Shoot-Out, including the Clippers playing Waupun on Wednesday. You can see the full schedule below.
