Packers suspend Jaire Alexander

The Green Bay Packers announced Wednesday that they have suspended cornerback Jaire Alexander for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.

General Manager Brian Gutekunst said "The decision to suspend a player is never easy and not one we take lightly.  Unfortunately, Jaire's actions prior to the game in Carolina led us to take this step".

Alexander went out for the opening coin toss even though he was not an assigned captain.  He then called "tails" and elected to "be on defense".  The official clarified that Alexander meant to defer, thus saving the Packers a possible lost possession.

Alexander was placed on the reserve/suspended list and is eligible to come off it next week.
