Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team gives back

Out of season did not mean the holidays were out of mind for the Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team.

As profiled on the school's Facebook page over the weekend, the team donated thousands of dollars to families in need on Washington Island and the mainland during the holidays to make their Christmas celebrations a little brighter. Families also received a gift card from the Door County Piggly Wiggly, whose head coach is Jay Kita, the manager. The funds were from the team's fundraising efforts over the last year.

This was not the first major philanthropic gift made by the Gibraltar/Washington Island baseball team in 2023. The team also provided the necessary funds so the Washington Island Islanders baseball team could purchase an AED for their home ballpark during Door County Baseball League games.
