Packers look to exorcise playoff demons in Santa Clara

The Green Bay Packers hope their recent playoff history against the San Francisco 49ers gets changed on Saturday night when the two teams face each other in the NFC Divisional round.

The 49ers had last week off as the NFC's number one seed, but the Packers clicked as they left the over 93,000 in attendance and millions watching at home in shock Sunday evening as they throttled the Dallas Cowboys 48-32. The Packers scored six touchdowns on its first seven possessions to keep the Cowboys chasing them all night. Jordan Love ended the day shy of a perfect passer rating with 272 yards and three touchdown passes. Aaron Jones rushed for 118 yards and three scores, while Romeo Doubs led all receivers with six catches for over 150 yards.

The Packers have succeeded against the 49ers over the last 20 years, but not in the playoffs. The 49ers have won the last four playoff matchups against the Packers, which have not beaten their western rivals since Brett Favre led them to a 25-15 win in 2001.

The Packers will face the 49ers in Santa Clara on Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
