Local wrestlers win five individual titles across three tournaments

With few exceptions, the area's four wrestling teams will now look forward to the start of the WIAA postseason next month.

The Luxemburg-Casco Spartans won all of their duals and now they can say they have won all of their tournaments ahead of the WIAA postseason after scoring 258.5 points to win the Pulaski Invitational on Saturday. The Spartans boasted three individual titles with Trace Schoenebeck (190 pounds), Isaac Jerabek (144 pounds), and Caleb Delebreau (138 pounds) winning their respective weight classes. The 6.5 point gap between the Spartans and second-place Kaukauna could have been even wider as Jake Jandrin (106 pounds), Carson Blohowiak (113 pounds), Carson Neubert (120 pounds), Max Ronsman (150 pounds), and Ezra Waege (215 pounds) earned berths to the championship match. Four other Spartans placed in their respective weight classes.

Six Kewaunee Storm wrestlers finished in fifth place or better in Saturday's Deerfield Scramble. Leading the way was Mitchell Boeder, who registered a pin in all four of his contested matches to take first place at 285 pounds. Mitchell VanGoethem just missed out on his own crown, going 4-1 on the day at 157 pounds to finish in second place. Kemper Robinson took fourth at 190 pounds while Aidan Ducat (113 pounds), Trevor Gauthier (132 pounds), and Issac Benz (138 pounds) all took fifth.

Spencer Madsen made the most of his experience in front of the home crowd as he won the Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic for Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol. Madsen earned his title at 144 pounds with two pins and a technical fall. Ethan Denamur (5th,165 pounds), Zak Wrobel (3rd, 175 pounds), Harrison Schartner (4th, 215 pounds), and Seth Laughlin (3rd, 285 pounds) also placed in the tournament that saw SBS finish in eighth place with 96.5 points.

Six of Southern Door's nine wrestlers came home with medals from Saturday's Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic. Mason Motquin (132 pounds), Trevor Englebert (144 pounds), and Lance Veeser (150 pounds) all took second place in their respective weight classes. Lukas Kallin (4th, 120 pounds), Ethan Alexander (4th, 126 pounds), and Spencer Slezewski (5th, 138 pounds) also placed in the 16-team tournament as the Eagles took sixth with 114.5 points.
