Men's soccer returns to Green Bay

After a two-year hiatus, semi-pro men's soccer is returning to the Green Bay area under a familiar banner.

The Green Bay Glory, which has operated a women's side since 2019, announced on Wednesday that it will field a men's team in 2024. Both teams will play in the Midwest Premier League, which features teams from Milwaukee, Chicago, Dekalb, Ill., Joliet, Ill., and Indianapolis.

In a statement from the team, the program will be spearheaded by Elliot Bordini, Glory women's team owner Kerry Geocaris’ son. Bordini, a collegiate soccer player, will look to help replicate what the Women’s program, going into its 2nd season in the Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL), has done both on and off the field. “I’ve admired what Glory has accomplished and what they are doing for the female athletes and community is incredible. I want to be a part of providing opportunities for players like myself who want to stay in love with the game and aspire to make something of themselves on and off the field,” says Bordini.

The team will play at the Banta Bowl on Lawrence University's campus in Appleton for their inaugural season. This will fill a void left by the Green Bay Voyageurs, which disappeared in the haze of the pandemic in 2022.
