Phoenix men drop close duel with Norse

It came down to the final seconds to decide the Green Bay Phoenix men's basketball team's fate as they lost to Northern Kentucky 58-57 at the Resch Center on Wednesday night.

The two teams went toe-to-toe all night long as the score was tied seven times to go along with 12 lead changes as they both shot under 40 percent from the field. The Phoenix were able to take a bite out of their three-point halftime deficit, but the Norse's Marques Warrick spoiled a 7-0 run by the Phoenix with a lay-up off the glass to give his team the one-point advantage with five seconds left. The Phoenix would run two more plays, ending with Noah Reynolds' last-second shot going off the front of the rim.

Reynolds finished with 18 points to lead the Phoenix as Preston Ruedinger added 10 points in the loss. The Norse had three players finish double figures.

With the men idle, the Phoenix women will have the focus with games at Robert Morris on Thursday (6 p.m.) and at Youngstown State on Saturday (12:30 p.m.). The Phoenix have won three of their last five games as they try to retake sole possession of first place in the Horizon League from Cleveland State.
