Duessler, Bley rely on past athletic experiences for Miss Door County platforms

Sevastopol athletes Kylee Duessler and Emily Bley did not have to look far to find the perfect platforms to travel the area promoting during their tenure as Miss Door County and Miss Door County Teen.

Duessler is at the tail end of her basketball season before she heads into the track season, where she qualified for last year's state meet in the 200m dash. The pair played with each other on the Pioneers volleyball team that made it to the regional semifinal last season after two consecutive trips to the sectional round.

Duessler, a future UW-Milwaukee biomedical engineering student, will promote her community service initiative, “Trust Your Training; Anxiety Awareness in Athletics,” over the next year. Bley, a future NWTC nursing student, will discuss her community service initiative, “Nutrition Before Competition,” over the next year as well.  After struggling with them, the pair discussed why the issues were important to them.

Duessler and the Pioneers' girls basketball team will open their WIAA Tournament run at home against St. Thomas Aquinas on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
