Local wrestlers enter second day of state wrestling tournament

Most of the area's state wrestling qualifiers will return to action on Friday for a second day at the Kohl Center.

The Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team will have its full stable of wrestlers for the second day of the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament on Friday. On the girls' side, Kiley Georgel split her first two matches at 235 pounds to set up her appearance in the consolation rounds on Friday morning. On the boys' side, Jake Jandrin, Carson Blohowiak, and Caleb Delebreau earned bonus points in their wins, while Michael Bostwick advanced by decision. They will return to action Friday morning when Carson Neubert, Blakelee Bastien, Max Ronsman, Isaac Jerabek, and Trace Schoenebeck will wrestle for the first time in this tournament.

The Kewaunee wrestling team will have two of its three wrestlers take the mat again at the Kohl Center as the WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament resumes on Friday. After Mitchell VanGoethem dropped his first match, Kemper Robinson earned a winning decision, and Mitchell Boeder registered a pin to advance to Friday morning's quarterfinal round.

Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol's Tiani Lemieux didn't need much time to advance to the semifinals of the WIAA Girls' Individual State Tournament on Thursday. Lemieux pinned both of her opponents in less than 50 seconds to advance to her next matches on Friday night.

Mason Motquin's time in Madison may be over, but Southern Door is still alive in this weekend's WIAA Individual State Wrestling Tournament. Hailey Veeser won both of her matches to earn a spot in the semifinal round of the Girls' 152 lb. bracket. Veeser will wrestle again on Friday night. Teammates Nora LeFevre and Sydney Turner registered pins in the first round before being pinned in the second round. They will wrestle again on Friday morning.
