Southern Door Eagles' season ends 80-50 to Freedom on 96.7 WBDK

The Southern Door ran into a buzzsaw as the Freedom Irish ended the Eagles' season in Green Bay in a WIAA Division 3 sectional semi-final. The Irish had hot hands and made 16 3-pointers compared to just 3 for the Eagles to win going away 80-50.

The Irish jumped out to a big lead and used a press to stifle a usually strong Eagles offense. The leading scorer for the Eagles was Drew Daoust, who fought his way to 20 points. Matthew Malvitz put an exclamation point on his high school career as his final bucket was a dunk that scored his 12th point, which was the second-highest total for the Eagles.

The Eagles season had plenty to remember both for individuals and as a team. Drew Daoust reached a new high for county scoring in a game and his 2000th-plus points. The team won the Peninsula Conference as well as an elusive Regional Championship.
