Algoma softball season kicks off season vs. Reedsville

The Algoma Wolves start the road to a second straight regional title with hopes to accomplish more this spring when they host Reedsville on Tuesday afternoon.

The Wolves were just an out away from clinching a spot in the state tournament before eventually falling to Iola-Scandinavia 3-2. The team returns Macie Zimmerman, one of just four freshmen named to an All-State team encompassing Division 4 and 5 players. They also return all but three players from last year's regional title-winning team.

The Panthers were 6-10 last year but were nipped 2-1 by St. Mary Catholic in the regional final, preventing them from securing their spot in sectionals. Josee Bussee led the Panthers with a .516 batting average and 14 runs batted in.

The first pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Algoma. There will be no JV1 game.
