Girls track teams take their turns at Manitowoc Lincoln Friday

A day after the boys took their turn, the area girls' track teams will have their opportunity to run at Manitowoc Lincoln on Friday.

Luxemburg-Casco, Kewaunee, and Gibraltar will join Chilton, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Gibraltar, Green Bay United, Kimberly, Manitowoc Lincoln, Manitowoc Lutheran, Mishicot, Ozaukee, Plymouth, Sheboygan Falls, and Two Rivers for the meet that starts at 4 p.m.

Several local teams traveled to Manitowoc for varsity meets on Thursday.

  • The Luxemburg-Casco track team opened their season Thursday night with impressive performances at the Hebert Invite in Manitowoc, including one event win. Sam Schutz won the pole vault with a height of 11 feet, which is listed as a personal record. Trevor Beaupre nearly won two events of his own as he nearly broke 20 feet in the long jump and 40 feet in the triple jump to come in second place. Kyan Lynts took third in the 3200m, and two relays came in fifth place to lead the Spartans.
  • Plenty of gold made the trip home to Kewaunee after Thursday's Hebert Invite at Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Christopher Cullen (400m), Maddix Mueller (high jump and triple jump), and the 4x200m relay took home first-place finishes. DJ Echos, Braxton Riha, the 4x160m relay, the 4x400m relay, and Owen Carlson also posted top-five finishes in the meet. The Storm was the top-performing local team with 68 points, which was good for third place overall as they sat behind the host Ships (90.5 pts) and Appleton East (74 pts).

  • Gibraltar's Braden Sitte did not let a scratch in the long jump affect the rest of his day at the Hebert Invite in Manitowoc on Thursday. Sitte took second in the high jump with a personal record and was part of a 4x200m relay that took third at the meet. Will Lecy was also on that relay as he posted a pair of top-five performances, including his fifth-place finish in the 200m dash.
