Sturgeon Bay captures first Packerland golf meet of the year

The Sturgeon Bay golf team opened the Packerland Conference season with a win on Thursday at Cherry Hills Golf Course in Sturgeon Bay.

Led by Tre Wienke's nine-hole score of 42, the Clippers had four golfers finish under 50 strokes to secure the win with a score of 185. Every stroke mattered as Southern Door's Finley LaVine posted the best round of 37 to lead the Eagles to a second-place finish with a score of 191.

Teddy Roth posted a score of 45 to take Gibraltar to third place with a score of 205. Evan Maccaux's 45 paced the Kewaunee Storm to fourth place, nine strokes behind the Vikings, with a score of 218.

After Oconto and Peshtigo took fifth and sixth place overall, Jordyn Welch posted a 59 to lead Sevastopol to a seventh-place finish with a score of 257. NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy does not have enough golfers to post a team score.
