Green Bay set to name alum new women's basketball coach

A familiar face will reportedly be roaming the sidelines for the Green Bay women's basketball team in the upcoming season.

According to the Green Bay Press-Gazette, Kayla Karius will be named the new head coach of the Phoenix later this week. Karius has spent the past two years as the head coach at South Dakota and went 23-13 this season. Karius's maiden name is Tetschlag, and her time with the Phoenix was spectacular. Individually, Karius was a first-team all-conference selection twice, the league’s co-player of the year, and made the all-defensive team her senior season. The team won four conference championships, made three NCAA appearances, and went to the program's only Sweet 16.

Post Phoenix career, she played in Europe before bouncing around the coaching ranks at South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Drake before landing the top job at Green Bay.
