Brewers rally to beat Royals

Down to their last strike and trailing 5-3 in the ninth inning, the Milwaukee Brewers rallied to top the Kansas City Royals 6-5 on Tuesday night.

Willy Adames’ three-run home run in the top of the ninth helped the Brewers snap a three-game losing streak and pull out an unexpected comeback against the Royals.

William Contreras lined a double off Kansas City reliever James McArthur to start the rally in the ninth.  After a walk to Gary Sanchez, Adames smashed a long home run over the left field fence that propelled the Brewers to a much needed victory.

Trevor Megill came on for his third save of the season with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.

The Brewers took an early 2-0 lead on back-to-back home runs by Rhys Hoskins and Joey Ortiz in the second inning, only to see the Royals score four runs in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

Each team scored a run in the seventh innings, before Adames’ dramatic homer in the ninth.

The Brewers (21-14) and Royals (21-16) will play a matinee game in Kansas City to close out the series with a 1:10 p.m. first pitch scheduled.  Joe Ross (1-3) will get the start for Milwaukee while Brady Singer (2-1) will go for the Royals.
