Bscherer To
See Red???

June 5,
2008The Sports Page featured Wisconsin Badger
offensive tackle Jake Bscherer. The Sturgeon Bay High School
graduate announced last night that he will likely take advantage
of a red shirt and save himself a year of eligibility. Bscherer
will be a junior in school this season, but if he does not play
in any of the games he will still have two years of eligibility
remaining.
The red shirt would still allow him to be on scholarship. He
would practice, prepare and travel with the team. If one of the
two starting offensive tackles were injured, the Sturgeon bay
grad would likely be asked to fill in. That would be the only
negative that could come from electing to take his red shirt
this season.
Bscherer weighs approximately 295 pounds and his new offensive
line coach would like to see him bulk up to 315 pounds. The
junior said he couldn’t believe how difficult it is to gain
weight. The added weight would allow the offensive lineman to be
comparative in weight with some of the other successful tackles
that have gone before him.
The Wisconsin Badgers will begin their off season weight
training program on Monday. He will return to Madison on Sunday
to prepare for the strenuous workout schedule.
The Sturgeon Bay native said it is great to be home and still
loves to come back and visit with friends and family. |
