The Stone Harbor Red Zone featured the (6-0) Southern Door wrestling team last night in front of a very nice crowd. The WRLU Team of the Week crushed Gillett-Suring 47-21 Friday night in the first of four duals broadcast on 104.1 FM WRLU.
Coaches Jerry Englebert, Steve Neville and Wendal Wagner were extra proud after their team finished head of Luxemburg-Casco in the Battle on the Bay Saturday. Add the impression they made in front of the Eagle wrestling alum last Friday and there was a lot of pride showed from the student athletes and their coaches.
Southern Door is made up of just three seniors and three juniors. The rest of the team consists of strong underclassmen. State hopefuls include Nolan Wagner, Jacon Englebert and Hunter Pawelski. Each has the tools to appear in a state final if they continue to grow on the mat this season.
After Southern Door graced the air waves, the Green Bay Packers were welcomed to the program after the largest second half comeback in franchise history. The 23 point second half comeback had the Packers in a great mood. Fans interacted with, got autographs and won Packers prizes for attending the show.
The program returns to Witt Ford next week. The program airs on WRLU from 5:15 – 7:00 PM. You can also listen live online at DoorCountyDailyNews.com or stream it anytime under the listen on demand button on the left hand side of any news or sports page.
