Packerland Conference Softball Tuesday Night

The Sevastopol Softball team took the long bus trip to Coleman Tuesday afternoon and made quick work of the Cougars. The Pioneers benefited from 11 walks and routed Coleman 12-2. Winning pitcher Sophie Pollman did a great job keeping opposing batters off balance, according to Head Coach Arnie Neubauer.

Ashley Kinnard-Carsten led Sevastopol at the plate going 2x2 with an RBI double.

Sturgeon Bay shutout Kewaunee 3 – 0 in Packerland Conference softball. Hailey Benesh notched another victory inside the pitcher’s circle. She allowed just one hit, with one walk and struck out four. Marissa Ehlers finished 2x3 to lead the Clipper offensive attack.

Benesh aided her own cause with a double in the fourth to end the shutout. The Clippers added two runs in the fifth inning with Jackie Herlache at the plate. The win ran Sturgeon Bay’s record to (4-1-1) overall and (3-0) in the conference.

Oconto handed Algoma their second loss in a week 3-2. The defending state champion was the top-ranked team in the state according to but fell after last week’s loss and will likely drop again when next week’s poll is released. The loss leaves the door open for any Packerland Conference team to contend for a conference championship this spring.

Gibraltar topped Stockbridge 11-1 in non-conference play. No other details were provided.
