The Pittsburgh Pirates scored eight runs in the sixth inning on their way to a 15-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers Friday.
Any pitcher that the Brewers threw on the mound gave up at least two runs. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse (7-2, 3.27 ERA) picked up his second loss of the season pitching only five innings. Lohse would allow eight runs over nine hits.
The second pitcher out of the pen was Tyler Thornburg. Thornburg pitched the sixth giving up five runs off three hits while walking four.
Wei-Chung Wang pitched the final two innings giving up two runs over four hits.
Offensively, the Brewers bats put up 11 hits. Carlos Gomez, Aramis Ramirez and Scooter Gennett each had two hits. Khris Davis, Jean Segura, Ryan Braun and Ramirez all recorded runs batted in.
With the loss and the St. Louis Cardinals losing the Brewers are still five games up. Game two of the series is Saturday with 3:05PM first pitch. Matt Garza will pitch for the Brewers against Pirates right-hander Edinson Volquez.
