The Sturgeon Bay American Legion Baseball team has still not suffered a losing streak in conference play this season. After knocking off rival Northern Door 2-1 at Sevastopol’s Town Park last night the team moved to (11-4) overall and (9-2) in conference.
Riley Cordier earned the win with a sensational 14 strikeout performance. Drew Tanck went toe-to-toe with Cordier and allowed only six hits to the Bays.
David Van Dreese had two of the Bays hits while Cordier and Keith Lehmann had the RBI’s. Austin Rohe doubled and scored while Lucas Stephenson scored the other run.
It was a monumental win in the Legion coaching career of Manager George Husby. The win put him at an even 700. George said after the game, “He would like to thank all of the past and present ball players for their loyalty and good play over the years. Great memories!”
The Bays play at Kewaunee County tonight at 8:00.
