Penalty Woes Don't Stop Packers in Victory Over Rams

Despite committing 12 penalties, the Packers captured its first win of the preseason Saturday afternoon as they beat the St. Louis Rams 21-7 in St. Louis. Aaron Rodgers and the first-team offense led the Packers on two scoring drives resulting in 10 points. The Packers opened the scoring when Rodgers threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Randall Cobb.  Rodgers finished his day of work 11 for 13 for 128 yards. After Packers quarterback Scott Tolzien exited the game going 10-15 with 107 yards, quarterback Matt Flynn led the Packers on another touchdown drive in the 3rd quarter. Flynn’s touchdown drive was capped off on 34-yard catch and run by wide receiver Jeff Janis. Mason Crosby added two field goals for the Packers.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford threw a touchdown pass to tight end Lance Kendricks in the second quarter for St. Louis’ only points of the game.

The Packers make their home preseason debut this Friday when they take on the Oakland Raiders at Lambeau Field.
