The Green Bay Packers claimed running back Johnny White off waivers from the Buffalo Bills and placed Brandon Saine on injured reserve. The transactions were announced Monday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.
White, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound second-year player out of the University of North Carolina, was drafted by Buffalo in the fifth round (No. 133 overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He appeared in 12 games for the Bills as a rookie last season, posting 38 yards on 12 carries (3.2 avg.) and five tackles on special teams. White played in three contests this season for Buffalo and rushed for 34 yards on eight carries (4.3 avg.).
White rushed for 720 yards and seven TDs on 130 carries (5.5 avg.) as a senior at North Carolina in 2010. He will wear number 34 for the Packers.
Saine sustained a knee injury at Houston on Sunday night. He appeared in all six games this season.
