Packerland Conference Girls Basketball Season Opens

Algoma opened up the Packerland Conference girls basketball season with a major splash. A 68 point outing against Southern Door helped boost the young Wolves confidence especially after graduating six seniors last year. The 43 point victory featured a triumphant return to the court by senior Taylor Schmidt. It was Schmidt's first game back after a major knee injury suffered on February 9. She scored 19 points to pace Algoma. Cheyanne McFarlin scored 13 of Southern Door's 25 points.

Sturgeon Bay held off N.E.W. Lutheran 48-42 at home last night. Katrina Boucher scored 18 points and Linea Schmelzer chipped in 13 to help Sturgeon Bay to (2-1) overall this season.

Oconto crushed Gibraltar 53-28 last night in Fish Creek. From the volleyball court to a starring role on the hardwood, Laken James scored a game high 20 points for the Blue Devils. Makenna Ash led the Vikings with eight points.
