
The Sturgeon Bay swim team went up against the best Division 1 schools in the state of Wisconsin last weekend with varied results. The event was in a meter pool so it took a little getting used to for Sturgeon Bay. Madison Memorial finished first with Sturgeon Bay coming in eighth place.
Coach Tony Smith said his team definitely performed better at this event this year compared to their effort a year ago. Placing in the top 16 in a given event at this meet is a big accomplishment Smith said and the Clippers did so in several events.
Trevor Smith finished 15th in the 100 fly and 11th in the 100 back. Doug Foss also finished 16th in the 50 free. Will Hartman added a 13th place finish in the 200 yard IM.
Sturgeon Bay's 400 free relay team consisting of Garrett Sowl, Lance Martins, Natan Danz and Trevor Smith finished 12th. David Safranski, Charles Malek, Rodrigo Cardoza and Doug Foss finished 16th in the same event. Each team was in the top 16 in the 200 free and 200 medley relays as well.
