The most outspoken player in the NFL about the disaster that is the NFL Pro Bowl a season ago was Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. "I'll be honest with you," Rodgers said. "I was a little bit disappointed. I felt like some of the guys on the NFC side embarrassed themselves."
The statement sent shock waves through the NFL a year ago and it comes as no surprise that Rodgers will not play this Sunday in the annual All-Star game. After receiving more votes than any other NFC quarterback, Rodgers told officials he would not play due to an injury.
Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan also listed an undisclosed injury as reason to skip the game. That means Drew Brees, Eli Manning and Russell Wilson will play QB for the NFC this weekend.
Clay Matthews also opted out of the Pro Bowl. His hamstring is a legitimate reason for not playing Sunday.
Josh Sitton earned a trip to Hawaii after 49ers guard Mike Iupati was forced to withdraw because of San Francisco's Super Bowl berth. Center Jeff Saturday will also represent the Packers this Sunday afternoon.
