
Sevastopol and Gibraltar squared off in a tight boys basketball game in Fish Creek that included numerous lead changes. The Fish Creek crowd was enthused early as their Vikings jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead. Gibraltar pushed their lead to 14 at the half only to see the Pioneers come charging back and eventually overtake the home team for a 50-48 win. Cody Giesseman had an amazing fourth quarter including 14 of his game-high 31 points to complete the comeback. Brandon Steebs scored 19 to lead the Vikings.
Southern Door played their worst half of basketball of the season in the first half against Sturgeon Bay last night. A 23 point fourth quarter for Southern Door made the score look respectable but the Clippers eased their way to a 61-49 victory. Matthew "Sweet Hands" Seiler scored a season high 17 points to help Sturgeon Bay avenge a loss to the Eagles earlier in the season.
N.E.W. Lutheran was on the ropes against Algoma last night. The Blazers nearly lost their first conference game of the season. Trailing by 12 at the end of the first quarter, N.E.W. Lutheran leaned on Travis Voigt who finished with 21 points helping complete the comeback. Travis Kostichka scored 18 points and Jake Wiese added 17 points in the loss for Algoma.
Kewaunee was the only Packerland Conference team to breathe easily in the fourth quarter last night. They eased past Oconto 57-38 behind a 20 point outing from Reggie Nimmer.
