The Algoma Wolves girls basketball team entered the WIAA Division 4 tournament as the number one ranked team in the state according to the Wisconsin Coaches Association. Led by Coach Mark “Zug” Zastrow, the Wolves roared through the regional tournament after claiming at least a share of the Packerland Conference for seven consecutive seasons.
Thursday night Algoma will travel to Seymour for a 7:00 PM tip against Oshkosh Lourdes. Many say the winner of this game will likely ease past the sectional final and appear at state. This year’s state tournament will be held at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
Thursday night’s game will be broadcast on 104.1 FM WRLU. Nick Freimuth and Paul Schmitt will tag team on the description of the action Thursday night and every other Algoma state tournament game moving forward. The hope is that WRLU and the Wolves will have four more broadcasts with the final game ending with the players hoisting the gold ball next weekend.
Pre-Game coverage is slated to begin at 6:30 PM from Seymour High School Thursday night.
