The National Basketball Association announced today that Bucks guard Monta Ellis has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played Feb. 25 – March 3. The award is the fourth of Ellis’ career and second this season as he also received the honor for games played Dec. 24-30.
Ellis averaged 24.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, 9.0 assists and 5.0 steals per game while leading the Bucks to a 3-0 week that featured wins over Houston, Dallas and Toronto. He posted back-to-back games with six steals in Dallas and Houston while leading the Bucks to their first multi-win road trip through Texas since 1986. Ellis capped off the trip with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Bucks the win over the Rockets.
Ellis’ Player of the Week honor is the fourth for a Bucks player this season, topped only by the Miami Heat and Oklahoma City Thunder’s five such awards in 2012-13. In addition to Ellis’ two awards, his backcourt mate Brandon Jennings has also won twice for the weeks ending Nov. 4 and Jan. 13.
