The Milwaukee Brewers are the hottest team in baseball. Winners of eight straight after blasting the Padres 7-1 last night at Petco Park, Milwaukee started off their West Coast road trip with an impressive victory.
Starter Kyle Lohse allowed one earned run through five innings but left the game after just 71 pitches when he dislocated his pinkie on his non-throwing hand running to first base. Lohse got the win and the Brewers remained one game back of Cincinnati for the division lead. The injury will not keep Lohse from making his next scheduled start.
The Brewers took advantage of a pair of hit batters in the first inning when Yuniesky Betancourt launched a three run home run. Ryan Braun also smashed a two-run shot in the opening frame.
Game two of the three game series will start tonight just after 9:00 PM CST.
