A 3-1 Milwaukee Brewers lead disappeared and Pittsburgh forced extra innings by tying the game in the ninth inning. A 12th inning walk-off home run by Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen delivered a comeback win. Reliever Mike Fiers gave up the blast and took the loss.
John Axford allowed Pittsburgh to tie the game. It was his third blown save of the season. Again Brewers right-hander Kyle Lohse had a quality start but did not factor in the decision.
Reigning National League Player of the Week Jean Segura gave the Brewers a 1-0 lead in the first inning when he launched a homer into the left-field seats. It was Segura's seventh home run.
