It was a big night for Aramis Ramirez in St. Louis Friday but the Brewers’ third baseman couldn’t carry the entire team. The Cardinals once again edged Milwaukee 7-6, for the seventh time in the teams’ past eight matchups.
Trailing 6-0 after three innings, Ramirez stepped up to the plate and lined a 3-1 pitch out of left field for a three-run home run. The Cardinals answered immediately with another run in the bottom of the fourth.
When Ramirez stepped up to the plate in the sixth, once again there were two runners on. On the first pitch the third baseman connected for another home run to put Milwaukee within one run of a tie.
That tie never came and Wily Peralta took the loss after allowing seven runs – six earned – on 11 hits in five innings.
The Crew faces the Cardinals again tonight at 6:15.
