Solid Pitching Performance Not Enough For A Milwaukee Win

The Brewers slipped back to a season-worst 15 games under .500 after a 2-1 loss against the Pirates at PNC Park Saturday.

Donovan Hand pitched five solid innings for Milwaukee. In his second Major League start, he held Pittsburgh to two solo home runs, five hits, no walks and he struck out two. 53 of his 64 pitches were strikes.

Yuniesky Betancourt, who is still covering first base for the injured Corey Hart, drove in the Brewers’ only run. Ryan Braun is still watching from the sidelines with a hand injury and Aramis Ramirez is playing through lingering knee pain.

Pedro Alvarez and Garrett Jones each had solo home runs for the Pirates.

Milwaukee and Pittsburgh finish out the series today at 12:35.
