Domination was the word Kewaunee graduate Alex Richard used to describe the performance by her brother Austin and his Kewaunee Football team Friday night. A 50-2 win over Sturgeon Bay was a display of complete and utter domination by the eighth-ranked team in the state according to wissports.net.
Alex Richard, a two-time state girls basketball champion, joined John Otradovec and Nick Freimuth for the call of Olympian/Packerland Conference football Friday night from Kewaunee. The Storm led 27-0 after the first quarter and built their lead to 41-2 at the half during “Parent’s Night.”
Touchdowns were scored on the ground by Austin Kassner and Austin Richard (2). Caleb Johnson was on fire throwing touchdown passes of 30, 40 and 65 yards to Logan Brusky and Jesse Kleiman (2). Brusky added a 30 yard interception return for a touchdown in the second half.
Sturgeon Bay scored their first points of the conference schedule on a big hit by Joey Sheehy of Kewaunee QB Caleb Johnson. The ball was jarred loose in the end zone and covered up by Logan Kassner. Casey Giesseman was credited with the tackle for the two-point score for Sturgeon Bay.
Larmarco Crawford added a 30-yard field goal to add to an impressive game played in all three phases for the Storm; offense, defense and special teams.
The win pushed Kewaunee to (5-0) and dropped the Clippers to (0-5). The Storm travel to Chilton next week for a battle of undefeated Olympian/Packerland Conference teams. Sturgeon Bay hosts Southern Door for a homecoming game on 104.1 FM WRLU.
