The Wisconsin Badgers (4-0, 1-0 conference) controlled the Michigan State Spartan offense and came away with a Big Ten Conference opening win at East Lansing 30-6.  Redshirt Freshman quarterback Alex Hornibrook threw for 195 yards and one touchdown as #11 Wisconsin upset #8 Michigan State.

Packers Play Their Best At Lambeau Field

Leading 31-10 at the half, the Detroit Lions had no solution for Aaron Rodgers, Eddie Lacy and the high flying Packers offense Sunday. Green Bay held on to a 34-27 win at Lambeau Field on alumni day.

It marked only the second time in Aaron Rodgers career that he threw four or more touchdowns in the first half. He threw six against the Bears three years ago. Jordy Nelson hauled in two, Richard Rodgers caught one and Davante Adams had the other touchdown for the Packers.

The running game looked much improved Sunday as well. Coach Mike McCarthy did much less substituting in the back field and Eddie Lacy capitalized. Lacy carried the ball 17 times for 103 yards.

Green Bay heads into the bye week with a bevy of injured players. A week four bye is never a good thing but one could make the case the Green Bay needed it badly with the rash of injuries this team has experienced throughout the first three weeks.

The New York Giants will next play at Lambeau Field on Sunday, October 9 at 7:30 PM.

High School Soccer Monday Night

The Packerland Conference had two teams represent the conference well Monday night as Gibraltar/Sevastopol and Sturgeon Bay each picked up big wins. The "Vikineers" shutout Roncalli 4-0. Hunter Evenson scored the rare hat trick by netting three goals to lead his team to victory. Eduardo or "Eddie" Garcia added a goal as well.

Sturgeon Bay played quite possibly its biggest home game of the season Monday at Dick Clark Field. The Clippers shutout Green Bay Notre Dame. The Tritons are one of the top teams in Division 2. A 2-0 victory featured Brando Forbes offensive skillset. The senior netted both goals for Sturgeon Bay and more importantly gave the home team some much needed confidence as the regional tournament fast approaches.

Jim Olson Motors Red Zone Crowd Growing Every Week

[singleImage image="1231" img_size="medium" img_width="0" img_height="0" img_link_target="_self" width="1/1" el_position="first last"]

The secret is out about the Jim Olson Motors Red Zone. In its fifth year of existence, the Door County live Packers talk show has grown to an event in which you better arrive early if you want a seat. Over 120 people packed into the Ford Store Monday night to celebrate the Sturgeon Bay Youth Soccer Program. The Youth Club is comprised of 5th through 8th graders from Sturgeon Bay, St. John Bosco and Southern Door.

In hour two, two Green Bay Packers joined the broadcast and the live studio audience couldn't get enough. Packers quarterback Brett Hundley and defensive back Josh Hawkins got an education on the game of soccer from our team of the week, signed hundreds of autographs, and posed for dozens of pictures.

The Red Zone also featured the Boys and Girls Club member of the week Austin Starr. Starr is pictured above with Brett Hundley.

The show will take a one week break for the bye week and return on Monday, October 10 with Packers quarterback Joe Callahan and fifth round draft pick out of Stanford Kyle Murphy. The Jim Olson Motors Red Zone airs between 5:30 and 7:00 PM Mondays. We will be at the Chevy or GM store October 10th.
