Algoma guard Meg Ryan has made her college decision official. Ripon College was extremely aggressive in recruiting the standout basketball and softball player to continue her studies and her playing career with them. Ryan will major in the Exercise Science field.
Ripon Coach Lauren Johnson as well as UW-Parkside, Marian University, Loras College (IA), Wisconsin Lutheran, Cardinal Stritch, and Concordia University all made efforts to lure Meg to their schools.
Ripon College plays in The Midwest Conference (D-III). The Midwest Conference is comprised of: Beloit College, Carroll College, Cornell, Grinnell, Illinois College, Knox, Lake Forest, Lawrence, Monmouth, Ripon, and St. Norbert.
Only 2 minutes after receiving a picture message from Meg wearing a new Ripon Redhawk sweatshirt, Meg received an excited phone call from Coach Johnson. Then she took to Twitter proclaiming, “Our program took a HUGE step tonite” & “#HUGEHUGEHUGENEWS!”
Ripon Softball Coach Jen Mueller also met with the Ryan Family on several occasions and has been recruiting Meg for the Redhawk Softball Team as a 3rd baseman and Catcher. The family met jointly with both coaches and found that there is an opportunity for Meg to play both sports with little or no distraction. Meg talked about the option of playing two sports collegiately.
